The Surf Coast Arts Trail is on today (Saturday 3rd Aug), with over 50 locations opening over the weekend to display all sorts of artistic creations.
I visited those in the Winchelsea, Buckley and Gherang area. Paintings, sculptures, pottery, mosaics and more.
Great to see the pleasure and pride those artists have in their inspirational creations. Surf Coast has long been a good home for the arts. The Lorne Biennial is another example. They bring visitors from outside the Shire, but also encourage us to explore our own backyards.
Such things are investments that have an impact on the reputation and 'feel' for our region. A relatively small budget amount. Is it a worthwhile spend for a tight financial situation? I think so. Art has a subtle effect on a place - akin to "it's not all work".
